Article: LA '84 x MELTON WOOL

LA '84 x MELTON WOOL

That is it folks! September is now here and with it, brings a soft welcoming to the Autumn season, so now is the perfect time to introduce you to the upcoming WALSH Autumn/Winter 2017 collections.

As part of the 'Craftsman Project', Walsh have again collaborated with the prestigious Leeds based, AW Hainsworth.

The LA '84 has been recreated using Melton cloth in a spectrum of vivid hue, giving a striking albeit smart impression, a perfect compliment to any outfit, weather that be with shorts, selvedge jeans or a Saville Row tailored suit.

Melton cloth, originating from the town of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, central England, could easily be regarded as one of the most versatile and technological natural textiles.

Made from 100% wool and finished with a full and dense weave gives the cloth great heat insulating properties and wind and rain weather resistance.

The name was first used in the early 1800’s and the cloth was often used to make sailors' pea jackets and fishermen’s coats, and was soon adopted by local authority and emergency services.

The Fire service, the post office and the British Railway Board all used this iconic cloth.

Walsh LA '84 in AW Hainsworth Melton Cloth is available to pre-order from the online store now.
