蜡棉自古以来就是一种传统的科技纺织品，其历史可以追溯到15世纪。早期的航海家们发现，他们的棉帆在湿润时比干燥时更有效、更密实，于是便在帆上涂抹鱼油和油脂。
大约在19世纪50年代，出现了第一种防水棉，使用亚麻籽油处理，但随着时间的推移，它会变得僵硬发黄，帆也需要更换。航海家们便将旧的泛黄布料制成防水外套，称为“雨衣”。
英国Millerain公司成立于1880年，是英国首家商业化生产蜡棉并完善其制造工艺的公司，随后将这种特种纺织品出口到世界各地。自那时以来，蜡棉因其防水和功能性特点，已成为工业和时尚界备受追捧的纺织品。
今年秋冬，Walsh与British Millerain合作，采用了他们的Staywax Romano面料，这是一种轻质细棉，表面有浅蜡，旨在经受磨损和刮擦后留下独特的做旧痕迹。
